B4A is a shortened version of Bureau for Architecture, LLC. We are a full-service architectural studio based in New York City and operating in both the architectural and research spaces. We take a holistic approach to every problem and strive to craft solutions that are feasible, durable, adaptable, original, balanced, social, and sensational – regardless of scale or budget. At B4A, we believe in the power of architecture as a social tool.

Radmila Lazarevic, RA

Over 20 years of in-depth industry experience. Extensive knowledge of zoning and building codes and city/state regulations with a focus on residential projects. Radmila holds a Master's Degree in Advanced Architectural Design from Columbia University and is a registered architect in the State of New York.

Lazar D. Kesic, AIA

Over 20 years of experience in project delivery and the preparation of Construction Documents, with broad technical skills to match. Focused on educational and institutional projects. Lazar holds a Master's Degree in Architecture from the New Jersey Institute of Technology and is a registered architect in both States of New York and New Jersey.

B4A is Women's Business Enterprises-Certified in New York City.

Process

Proposal: First, we meet with you, our client, to understand your needs, budget, and expectations. Once we get a full picture of a project's required scope, we draft a proposal that outlines the project's steps, provides a contract time line, and enumerates our fee.

Discovery: During this step, we perform site visits, collect all relevant information from you, and work to define all applicable restrictions imposed by the field conditions and governing codes.

Schematic Design: For us, this is the best and most important part of the project. It is here where ideas are turned into life. We work closely with you until you're fully satisfied with the design / solution, and from here we proceed into the development phase.

DD & CDs phase: This is where we get down to the nitty-gritty and prepare a set of drawings that are used for the contractor to bid and to build from.

Board; Agencies & DOB Approvals: Depending on the size and location of your project, we will prepare different deliverables. For example, a typical apartment or commercial unit renovation requires approval from building's board and local building department. Larger projects may also require approval from additional agencies such as Fire Department,DEP, etc. We have decades of experience dealing with city and town officials and possess the knowledge and skills necessary to expedite this process.

Construction Administration: Once approvals are obtained, and construction starts, we will continue to work with you and will perform periodic site visits to make sure everything is up to snuff. We will help with obstacles that may arise, or, if you wish, can provide full construction administration during the build out.

Aftercare: We are happy to attend any and all ribbon-cutting ceremonies and housewarming parties :)
